A Luxurious Stay at Jeeva Klui Resort
Let me start by saying that when I visit Southeast Asia, I do it by backpack. I rent a scooter and make my way around the islands by Google Maps. By the end of every trip, my bag is too full to repack and I am tired of sharing a room in a hostel with ten plus strangers. So at least once on my trip, I like to ball out and feel like I'm not living out of a backpack full of wrinkled clothes. Enter Jeeva Resorts.
How do you pick a place to stay? Do you read countless reviews and scroll through hundreds of photos? Saying "yuck" out loud over and over again until you find one that you want to move into? No? Okay, well that's what happened with my search and when I found Jeeva Resort I wished I would have packed more than a backpack and didn't have a return ticket home.
We're picked up by our driver from the resort. He carries our backpacks into the seven-seater van and offers us bottled water. We wind along an ocean side road for thirty minutes before we get to Jeeva Klui. The resort is right on the ocean and stretches across what feels like your own private beach.
Once checked in we are taken down a path with palm trees so high it hurts my neck to see their tops. Our miniature version of a villa is near the end of the resort. The room is littered with fresh picked Frangipani.. on the pillows, on the towels, in the outdoor shower and the sliding door to our patio leads directly to Klui Beach.
We haven't eaten anything since our 7:00 am start, were past the point of hangry and ready to over eat on anything put in front of us. During check-in, were told the complimentary tea time is in the next hour so we settle on a vegetable curry to save room for all the fresh fruit to come with tea.
Jeeva's spa and adult only swimming pool is part of what makes the resort so wonderful. Bagged from our seven-hour boat journey we book in for serenity massages during the evening. When you enter the spa they ask you to pick a scented oil for your massage. Lemongrass? Vanilla? Jasmin? Lavender? Sandalwood? I settle on sandalwood. The massage is bliss and I end up forgetting all about the long boat ride to get here.
From here our next two days speed by and we leave the resort only once. We don't eat anywhere else. Why would we when I can order perfectly seared tuna and two for one cocktails during happy hour. At breakfast, my biggest decision is whether to get the waffles or the eggs Benedict but the server kindly suggests just getting both, so why not right? I'm on vacation!
The reason I would come back to the Jeeva Klui isn't that it's beautiful, and believe me it is stunning, it's because of the care the staff took in making our stay perfect. From remembering our names, to our drink order and spraying our room down every night before bed to ward off the mosquitos. You can bet if I get the chance I will be back!
